Live Matches: Real-Time T20 Scoreboard & Fantasy Points

The Live Matches guide gives you a real-time T20 scoreboard with the fantasy-relevant signals layered on top: top-3 fantasy scorers, projected final total, required run rate and dot-ball percentage. Every ball of every active match updates the scoreboard. We also flag the captain swap signal — when the original captain is struggling, the data tells you in 2-3 overs whether to consider a pre-set auto-swap. For fantasy players, the live scoreboard is the single most useful tool during a contest. Knowing the projected total, who's bowling the death and which batter is set is worth 30-50 fantasy points in a typical match. Bonus terms, payout figures and contest structures shown here are illustrative — please verify current terms on the official app before entering a paid contest.

The complete live matches: real-time t20 scoreboard & fantasy points guide

Why the live scoreboard matters more than the pre-match pick

The single biggest fantasy edge in T20 is not who you picked before the toss — it's how you read the live match. The top 1% of fantasy players don't just pick better players; they read the live state more accurately and make smarter captain swap decisions. The data layer on the live scoreboard translates raw ball-by-ball data into fantasy-relevant signals: projected final total, top-3 fantasy scorers, dot-ball percentage, required run rate, wickets in hand.

The four live signals to watch

Run rate vs required run rate. Run rate is the chase's raw pace; required run rate is the chase's pressure. A team at 80/2 in 10 overs is at RR 8.0 with RRR ~9.5, which is comfortably chaseable. A team at 60/4 in 10 overs is at RR 6.0 with RRR ~12, which is in trouble. The RRR is the single most useful live number — above 12 means the chase is essentially dead.

Dot-ball percentage. The percentage of balls where no run is scored. A powerplay dot-ball % above 45% signals genuine pressure on the batters; below 30% signals momentum. The dot-ball % is the single best in-play indicator of pressure and it is updated every ball.

Wickets in hand at over 10. The number of wickets left when the fielding restrictions end. Six or more wickets in hand at over 10 almost always produces a total of 180+; four or fewer almost always produces 140 or less. This is the most predictive single number for the projected total.

Top-3 fantasy scorers (live). We project fantasy points ball-by-ball, and the top-3 is updated every 30 seconds. If your captain is in the top-3 with 10 overs gone, hold. If your captain is outside the top-8 with 8 overs gone, consider a pre-set auto-swap.

Captain swap decision tree

Step 1: At the toss, set a primary captain and a vice-captain. Step 2: If your primary captain bats first and scores <25 with SR <130 in his first 15 balls, the projected swap signal is amber. Step 3: If your primary captain is batting second and his team is chasing 180+ with RRR >10 after 6 overs, the projected swap signal is red. Step 4: If the swap signal is amber or red, the vice-captain is your better pick. Only a few operators allow a captain swap at the toss — check your specific contest rules.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often is the live scoreboard updated?

The live scoreboard refreshes every 3-5 seconds during active matches, with the top-3 fantasy scorers updated every 30 seconds based on the live ball-by-ball feed.

What is a good projected total in T20?

Anything above 180 is competitive in modern T20. A score above 200 is high, and totals above 220 are exceptional. The projected total updates every over using a rolling run-rate and wickets-in-hand model.

How do I use the live scoreboard for captain swaps?

If your captain is batting and the team is 60/4 in 8 overs, the projected total has dropped to ~140 and his expected fantasy score has dropped to 35-50. Consider whether your vice-captain has a higher expected score in the second innings — the swap signal is most reliable between overs 6 and 12.

What is dot-ball percentage?

Dot-ball % is the percentage of balls in an innings where no run is scored. A dot-ball % above 45% in the powerplay signals pressure; below 30% signals momentum. It is the single best live indicator of in-game pressure.

What is required run rate (RRR)?

RRR is the run rate the chasing team needs from the remaining overs to win. If a team needs 80 from 10 overs, the RRR is 8.0. A RRR above 12 is very hard to maintain in T20; above 14 is nearly impossible without boundaries.

Why does the live scoreboard show projected fantasy points?

Every batter's projected fantasy score updates ball by ball. We use a Bayesian model with the player's median in the last 5-8 innings as the prior, updated by the current match state (overs remaining, wickets in hand, run rate).

Can I use the live scoreboard to make live team changes?

Most operators do not allow mid-match team changes. Some allow a captain swap before the toss, and a few allow one substitution per contest. Check the rules of your specific operator and contest.

What is the difference between run rate and economy?

Run rate (RR) is runs conceded per over by the bowling side; economy is the same metric from a single bowler's perspective. A run rate above 9 in T20 is high; an economy above 9 from a single bowler is high.

Live-match data and fantasy scoring

Our live matches hub publishes verified ball-by-ball data within 5 seconds of the on-field action. The data is sourced from official BCCI feeds and operator-side scorecards.

Live data feeds into your fantasy team in real time. Most apps refresh your team's fantasy score every 10–30 seconds based on the live events. The score includes runs, wickets, catches, run-outs, strike rate, and economy.

We also publish live captaincy multipliers — the 2x for your captain and the 1.5x for your vice-captain are applied to the live score, not the final score. If your captain is dismissed early, the live multiplier is already in effect.

During a live match, you cannot edit your team. The lock-in is final. But you can track your team's score in real time and learn from the events for next week's team-building decisions.
